That is usually true, but, as mentioned by @Nidzo2203, this extension, ASM No Admin, works with Joomla 5, as long as the Compatibility Plugin stays enabled.
Just installed the above extension in Joomla 6 alpha development version using PHP 8.3.4 and it still works, due to the compatibility plugin. However, the situation is likely to change in later versions of Joomla. The documentation of the Compatibility Plugin forbodes the inevitable: "Starting with Joomla 6 it's planned that deprecated code get removed finally."
